Well, how's everybody doing with Facebook down today?
I'm already seeing emails from mailing lists I'm on trying to capitalize on the FB outage LOL
"I can help you 1 on 1 to figure out. . . "
Look, I get it - if you own any kind of business, you're a marketer. It doesn't matter whether your business is service based (coaching, design, healing, tarot, social media management, etc) or product based, you're a marketer.
Email lists, social media profiles, websites, landing pages, and everything else are all about marketing your wares.
And that's fine. It's great, in fact.
I just find it bad form to bang people over the head with marketing messages purely based on something like what we're seeing today with everything in Facebookland being down.
Now, don't get me wrong - there is certainly value in having multiple options like an email list and Twitter and even platforms like this one.
You've heard the saying "don't put all your eggs in one basket" before, right? And I agree.
But this scarcity sales tactic bugs the shit outta me! There's no reason to forcefully jab someone's "pain points" just to sell your services or products. There's no reason to capitalize on someone's pain to get sales.
We can do better than that.
We ARE better than that.
Selling with truth and love is where it's at, my friends.
Be the light.
